After almost a month of very good conditions the weather turned the dial back to winter with a cold windy night. More like coats and beanies rather than shorts and t-shirts. Didn’t keep our bowlers away though with 23 teams out on our beautiful Payneham greens.

Some really interesting results with the usual upsets, close results and some very big scores.

  • 2 of the top 3 teams were beaten…albeit narrowly. Ladder has subsequently re-organised itself and the top stop is now wide open with only 1 game separating The Falcons (numero uno) from The Gamblers in 10th
  • Closest competition for a long time. This might the year of the upset. Stay tuned.
  • The Scorpions who have had a late season reshuffle, the fast finishing Rolling Stones, the ever reliable St Peters Boys, The Latecomers (too little too late) the not to be taken lightly Bald and Beautiful and the brilliant but erratic Gold Rollers all scored a healthy 30 or more points.

Winners of the night with an impressive score of 32 points and 24 shots up (and just pipping The Latecomers) were The Rolling Stones. Congratulations Steve, Troy, Paul and Simon Well done lads…don’t count this team out as they are difficult to beat once they get a sniff.

Resting toucher went late on the night with Peter from Lupi claiming the honour. Watch for Pete’s face on our wall of fame.

Jackpot number of – 12. Close…but not close enough were the Cool Mammas on – 11. Bad luck ladies and better luck next week when the prize pool jumps to 175 bucks. Well worth staying back for.

Only 2 weeks to go. We will extend the season and will organise a Tuesday versus Thursday play off later on in March. More about this next week.

That’s all from me…stay safe…and see you again next week

Mike on the mike.
